Another legend has enetered the final hall of fame, or in this case, quite possibly his own Hall of Justice. Maybe a Fortress of Solitude, though I hope not...

Christopher Reeve was a man, a super-man. Not only did this fine gentleman portray Superman, The Man of Steel, in film, but after his accident he lived the life of a super-man, fighting battles every day for the rest of his. In my generation's youth, we looked to Chris, as Superman, for hope, inspiration, and courage. Here was this man in the movies, flying around and saving the world, to make it better for us wee folk. Who cared it was all fictional? Name me one boy who was growing up who didn't pretend that he was Superman at least once in his life. I know I did it. Hell, I still wish I could fly most every day, a childish dream maybe, but a dream. Then the unthinkable happened.

During an equestrian competition, Chris and his horse chanced into an accident. His neck was broken; his body was paralyzed; our youth was destroyed. Superman became a vegetable?! It seemed that was the case. It was a very sad day indeed. He swore he would do his best to recover, and he became an inspiration for the world. Making public appearances and acting again here and there, we saw that while his body might have been broken, his spirit could have never been stronger. In the past year alone, he made more advances in his recovery than any other patient of his kind. He, to me, was branded a super-man beyond all boundaries. I felt that if given time, he would walk again.

I in no way could complain about my life whenever I thought of him. He was, in all honesty, an inspiration to me. This man was indeed making the world a better place for all of us, and not just on screen or stage. It was last night at work when I recieved the call for my very good friend Lucas. I said, hey man I am at work, what is up though? He then replied, 'Well I figured as much and therefore you havn't heard yet." Right there I was stunned in silence, who died, was there an attack, what? "Christopher Reeve is dead." We then had a quick discussion about it, then I had to go back to work. We actually announced this to the restraunt over the P.A. but no one really seemed to care.

It is a sad world we live in, do not even try to argue it. We looked towards modern day heroes, like Reeve, for the hope, inspiration, and courage we need. A hero has fallen, and there was no Doomsday that took him out. There will be no replacement for this man, and he will not come back to us. His legacy has been set in place, and he will never be forgotten, never. We need our heroes, but first we need to remember this fallen one. High flights, Chris. Fly high, and protect us from above, yon super-man.

*nods softly* That was very moving, and you're right. I grew up with Superman. Superman II was my favorite movie for years, and I would watch it whenever I had the time.

He will be missed.
